An app lives only while it is being updated. New versions of the mobile systems come out every year, and after eighteen months without updates the app starts to misbehave, after which the store delists it. Regular support is not an optional extra but a compulsory budget line.

Shared code costs around a third less and covers most business tasks: catalogues, client portals, request intake. Separate development is needed for complex graphics, heavy camera work and wherever smoothness is critical.
